C-Charge changes

Charging zone gets smaller, but charge itself goes up to £10 a day – unless you drive a low CO2 motor

C-Charge changes

January sees the biggest shake-up to the central London road tolling scheme since it was launched eight years ago. Key changes are the scrapping of the Western Extension and a hike in the daily fee from £8 to £10.

But there’s also a new Greener Vehicle Discount, which means cars emitting 100g/km or less of CO2 travel free. The same exemption still applies to electric vehicles, but it has been extended to include plug-in hybrids, such as the new version of the Toyota Prius.

The discount for alternatively fuelled vehicles, which included standard hybrids, is being scrapped. However, anyone currently registered will be entitled to the 100 per cent discount for another two years.
