We got early access to Osram’s second-generation Silverstar bulbs, straight off the production line. They go on sale this year and promise 60 per cent extra light and a longer life than the original.

While they were too new for us to rate, the bulb was brighter in the tunnel, with a sharply defined beam. It’ll also come in H1, H7 and H11 sizes.
