John McIlroy

Lifelong car fan John McIlroy started work as a motorsport journalist in 1995 - and within 12 months he was reporting on Colin McRae and Richard Burns in the World Rally Championship. He followed the WRC until 2003, when he stepped up to become editor of weekly motorsport bible Autosport.

A switch to product followed in 2004, and John has focused on writing news and reviews on the latest cars ever since. In his spare time he still follows the WRC action - albeit via web streaming instead of in the service park - and when his young son allows him the time, he’s often to be found picking apart computers. And occasionally putting them back together again.
