Spautopia Restore/Wheel Guard

Price: £14.99 for 500ml (Restore); £19.99 for 60ml (Wheel Guard) Rating: 4/5

Spautopia Restore/Wheel Guard

It’s strictly come cleaning! Spautopia has launched a two-step process for maintaining your wheels – so we put its new Restore and Wheel Guard products through their paces.

First, we set about applying the Restore cleaning solution. It comes in a generous 500ml bottle, but simply wiping the wheel wasn’t enough to get rid of years of brake dust and dirt.

Contrary to what the label says, we did have to scrub it to shift the worst bits – we’d have liked to see a brush supplied. After a rinse, the surface came up sparkling and streak-free.

Once you’ve finished cleaning, you apply Wheel Guard to halt the build-up of brake dust.

Latex gloves are included for this, and the product takes an hour to set. We treated one wheel on our test car, and rated the finish over a few weeks of winter driving – and it was clearly very effective.

But the 60ml pack is only enough to treat one set of wheels, so at just under £20, it’s expensive.

Verdict

 * Problems? No brush with Restore. Wheel Guard could be better value.

 * So why buy? Streak-free cleaning, combo cleans and protects well.
