Toyota recall woe

2010 will be a year to forget for Toyota, with a huge recall campaign required to fix sticking throttle pedals.

A dismal start to 2010 for Toyota. In January (Issue 1,101), the firm – famed for its reliability – recalled eight popular models across Europe. That meant 1.8 million cars returned to dealers to have a sticking throttle pedal fixed.

New parts were fitted to the iQ, Aygo, Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Verso, Avensis and RAV4. UK bosses said it was a precautionary move, with customer safety the most important consideration.
