New 2023 Dacia Jogger Hybrid 140: pricing, performance and release date

Seven-seat Jogger gains mild-hybrid option - the first Dacia to come with electric power

Pricing has been revealed for the new Dacia Jogger Hybrid 140 with the budget seven-seat MPV starting from £22,595. The addition of hybrid power is a first for the Romanian brand in the UK, utilising technology from parent company Renault. Orders books for the hybrid version are open now, with customer deliveries expected to commence in the second half of 2023.

The MPV market is waning in the UK as buyers look towards more stylish SUVs to provide their family transport. Traditional rivals such as the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, Vauxhall Zafira and Renault Grand Scenic are no longer available, with van-based, seven-seater models taking their place.

The Jogger has a clear lifestyle focus, with 200mm of ground clearance and SUV-inspired styling, which is matched by plenty of practicality. At just over 4.5 metres it’s the longest Dacia model in the line-up and, as with all forthcoming Dacia models, is based on the brand’s CMF-B platform - which is shared with the current Renault Clio and Captur

Dacia Jogger: engines and powertrains

The Jogger kicks off with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit offering 108bhp and 200Nm of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission which sends power to the front wheels. 0-62mph is dealt with in 11.2 seconds and it’ll top out at 114mph. Efficiency figures stand at 47.1mpg and 131g/km.

Recently revealed is the new Hybrid 140 model, which gets more power and an automatic gearbox. Here we have a 1.6-litre petrol engine, mated to an electric motor powered by a 1.2kWh battery. In total it produces 138bhp, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 10.1 seconds. The Hybrid model features regenerative braking through the ‘B’ mode which Dacia says “optimises energy recovery and driving comfort”.

The Hybrid is more frugal than the regular petrol model with economy figures of 56.5mpg and emissions of 112g/km. Inside, you’ll find a bespoke infotainment system with data showing the electrified powertrain’s level of battery charge, remaining range and energy flow.

Dacia Jogger: trim levels and design

There are three trim levels for the Jogger. That £17,145 base price is for the Essential model, which comes equipped with air-con, cruise control, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking and a smartphone docking station.

Mid-range Expression starts at £18,445 and adds body-coloured door handles and 16-inch mock alloy wheels, electric and heated mirrors with a dark metal finish, a reversing camera and automatic wipers.

Cabin kit for Expression spec includes keyless entry, electric rear windows, improved materials such as satin trim and a soft-feel steering wheel, a centre armrest and climate control. There’s also an electric parking brake, blindspot warning and an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Limited-run special Extreme SE trim tops the model range. Starting from £19,245, this brings 16-inch black alloy wheels, front parking sensors, heated front seats, bespoke floor and boot mats, and the upgraded Media Nav infotainment with sat-nav and wireless smartphone mirroring.

The Hybrid 140 models are available in £22,595 Expression trim and as the £23,595 Extreme SE. Both come with an exclusive Shadow Grey paint option.

If you want to maximise the Jogger’s family-friendly attributes, Dacia offers a camping conversion kit with a fold-out bed and huge four person tent.

There’s a family resemblance to the Duster from the front, while some of the Jogger’s design details also serve a functional purpose. For example, the vertical tail-light clusters maximise the width of the boot opening to make loading large items easier.

Dacia Jogger: infotainment and technology

The Jogger features three different multimedia systems depending on spec. First up is Media Control, which is based around a smartphone app, replicating the app’s content on a dash-mounted screen. It’s a simple interface that controls your device’s nav, media and telephone contacts.

Next up is the Media Display system, which adds an eight-inch touchscreen featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a four-speaker stereo.

Finally, Media Nav adds built-in sat-nav, as well as wireless smartphone connectivity, a six-speaker stereo and two USB ports, rounding off Dacia’s latest tech.
