Thruxton Racing Italian Supercar Experience

Price: £425 Rating: 4/5

Only a privileged few very rich owners get to drive a Murciélago LP 670-4 SV on the limit, right? Wrong, as Thruxton Racing now lets you behind the wheel of one of the fastest Lamborghinis ever!

We booked ourselves on the Italian Supercar Experience at the Hampshire track, to sample the 670bhp monster.

After a detailed 30-minute briefing, we were taken on a sighting lap around the circuit in a Mazda 3 by our expert driver-cum-instructor. We then got to drive a Porsche Cayman for four laps, and a further four at the wheel of a Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

Then it was into the SV, and we did four circuits of the 2.5-mile course – which were over far too quickly.

Given the amount of cars you get to drive, track time is limited. There’s only one SV, but a fleet of Caymans, although if you’re left to hang around for your drive, an on-site café sells food and drink.

Friends and family can watch for free from a viewing platform, and you can buy a DVD of your drives – although there’s no camera inside the LP 670-4.

The day costs £425 – good value given the insurance, fuel and tyre costs.
