Richard Dredge began his writing career at What Car in the late 1990s, on the day that our editor-in-chief Steve Fowler was appointed editor. While there he worked for Autocar and Classic & Sportscar on a freelance basis, before moving to Top Gear where he worked for almost five years. While at Top Gear Richard also wrote for a raft of classic car titles including Practical Classics, Classic Car Weekly and Classic Cars. At the end of 2004 Richard went freelance to start working for Auto Express as well as titles as diverse as Diesel Car, MSN, What Motorhome and Classic Motoring, along with a young driver’s magazine called First Car, most of which he still contributes to.
