The top 10 cars for the World Car of the Year 2013 award have been revealed

World Car of the Year Awards

The 10 finalists for the World Car of the Year 2013 award have been announced.

An international jury of 66 motoring journalists, including Auto Express editor-in-chief, Steve Fowler, and special contributor, Mike Rutherford, selected the 10 finalists.

The 2013 World Car of the Year finalists are:

Audi A3 Range Rover Mazda 6 Mazda CX-5 Mercedes A-Class Peugeot 208 Porsche Boxster/Cayman Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86 Volkswagen Golf Volvo V40

In addition to the World Car of the Year list, the jurors have also voted on their favourite performance cars for the 2013 World Performance Car Award.

The 2013 World Performance Car of the Year finalists are:

Aston Martin Vanquish Audi RS5 BMW M6 Coupe/Convertible BMW M135i Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Mercedes SL63 AMG Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster Porsche Boxster/Cayman Renaultsport Clio 200 EDC Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86 

Each juror will now test each car again, ahead of a further round of voting in February. The results of this vote will be totted up by KPMG and the top three cars in each category will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show, with the winners announced at a press conference at the New York Motor Show on 28 March.

The World Car of the Year Award is now in its ninth year. The last three WCotY winners were the Volkswagen Up! in 2012, the Nissan Leaf in 2011, and the Volkswagen Polo in 2010.

In addition to the World Car of the Year and Performance Car of the Year, there is also a five-car shortlist for the 2013 World Green Car, which has been produced by five industry experts.

2013 World Green Car award finalists:

Renault Zoe Smart Electric Drive Tesla Model S Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid

Finally, a six-car list of finalists for the 2013 World Car Design of the Year award has been announced. It was also produced by car design specialists.
