Fiat 500L MPW

Fiat 500L MPW front three quarters

The Fiat 500L MPW (multi-purpose wagon) might be the largest member of the Fiat 500 family, but it's one of the smallest seven-seater MPVs available.

With nearly nearly 650 litres of boot space and the optional sixth and seventh seats in place (the option costs £800), it's also the most practical version of the 500. The cute looks will appeal to some buyers, but the frugal engines will also be a big draw. The MPW is available with all of the frugal engines of the standard 500L, including the two-cylinder 900cc TwinAir engine.

However the 1.6-litre Multijet diesel is probably the best engine to go for, as it has enough power and still gets good fuel economy. It's a bit rough in town, but on motorway journeys the MPW feels much more grown-up.
