Another top spot for Dacia, with the Sandero taking the number two spot in the 10 cheapest cars to run in the UK. Although it is a smaller vehicle than the Duster, the Sandero is still a fully-fledged supermini. The petrol model replaced the diesel on this list when the flat £140 VED charge was introduced and it has featured here ever since.

Access models are as basic as they come, so if you can spend a few more pounds, we'd recommend going for Ambiance trim or above - they'll be better equipped, without costing much more to run.
