BMWs for the boys in blue
330d becomes standard issue as German firm is approved as key supplier for all 52 UK Police forces.
It’s BMWs for the boys and girls in blue! The firm has been approved as a key supplier for all 52 Police forces around the country by the National Policing Improvement Agency. That means that some of BMW’s range will become standard issue to the UK’s Policemen and women as part of a four-year deal.
The list of BMW’s available to the police is comprehensive, so look out for 330d Saloon and Touring, 530d Saloon and Touring, all variants of X1, X3 xDrive20d, X5 xDrive30d and xDrive40d, and the R1200 RF-P Police bike which will be used as both marked and unmarked police cars.
As part of the deal, BMW is introducing a new 330d Saloon Interceptor model. It’s billed as a Performance Pursuit Vehicle, that’s both fast but relatively light on fuel.
BMW is unique as it can install all of the extra police equipment on its production line, saving time and allowing the firm to offer its three-year BMW warranty.
